The Proposed CVS/Aetna Merger

Fox News reports this would be a threat to small pharmacies:

Forbes says the merger would be a threat to hospitals.

CVS Health’s proposed acquisition of Aetna is designed to keep patients out of the hospital for as much care as possible while escalating the move away from fee-for-service medicine to value-based care. See LINK

Fortune sees it as a novel merger with "complicated consequences." See LINK

This is what I think:

If you're a pharmacist or pharmacy technician, what do you think?

I think AMazon merging with Express Scripts will be a disaster for small drug stores. Put the two separate events happening at the same time and you can say goodbye to some of the larger ones too,

Being a technician that works for CVS, I can see this being nothing more than an absolute disaster. It's likely that all the Aetna patients will now have to be changed over to CAREMARK.... wonderful...
